Holly Jolly Parade

by admin ~ November 21st, 2008

The Holly Jolly Light Parade is tomorrow evening! Wow! The Holly Jolly Parade took my by surprise this year. If you’ve been following along you knew I was out of the country for a bit enjoying the warm sun of the Mediterranean and exploring the historical sites of Israel. So now I find myself just getting back into the groove of life back here in Baraboo.

If you’ve not attended before, the Holly Jolly Light parade is sort of a kick off to the holiday season for Downtown Baraboo. The parade features lots of lighted holiday floats that circle around the historic downtown square. Like many Baraboo residents I’ve been taking my own family down to the Holly Jolly Parade for some years now and it’s become a bit of a tradition. Afterward we’ll take a walk over by the library and watch folks chat and begin to take down some of the floats before we head home or off to find hot chocolate at a local restaurant.

In addition the downtown stores really jump into the holiday spirit over the weekend so you may like to head down to Baraboo early on Saturday and browse the shops first. However you do it, this is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. . . and the way this year has been going, we could certainly use a bit of holiday joy.
