The International Crane
Foundation (a private, non-profit organization) is located just
north of Baraboo and works worldwide to conserve cranes and
environments on which they depend. ICF has gained international
acclaim as one of the world's leaders in the conservation of
endangered species.
ICF is open daily (9 am to 5 pm) from April 15 to October 31.
Reservations are not required for individuals and family groups.
Guided tours begin at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. daily between
Memorial Day and Labor Day and on weekend days in May, September,
and October. A free tape-recorded tour is also available at the Gift
Shop for your use.
ICF offers the world's most complete collection of cranes at the
Johnson Exhibit Pod, the AMOCO Whooping Crane Exhibit, and the
nearby Wattled Crane Exhibit. At the AMOCO Whooping Crane Exhibit,
visitors see these rarest of cranes from a frog's-eye view in the
beautiful setting of a Wisconsin wetland. Interactive exhibits and a
short film tell the story of the whooping crane and the people who
wouldn't let them slip into extinction. Also enjoy the restoration
overlook displaying restored tall grass prairie and Oak Savanna much
as it would have looked over 200 years ago. You can also enjoy:
Nature Trails, Art Exhibits, Flight Demonstrations, Chick exercise
yard, special events and more.
